Shannon Mondry, Head Instructor
Ms. Mondry is originally from Denver, Colorado and a 20-year veteran of Wado-Kai. Her training with Mr. Sadahuru Kurobane, Sensei, of Denwakan Martial Center in Lakewood, Colorado, afforded her many karate experiences including competing nationally and internationally. Karate training and membership of her formal dojo is the basis of her passion for karate. Karate was of interest to her as a child, but it wasn’t until she was an older adult that she began her training.
“Karate is both a mental and physical experience like non-other. It’s something you can learn and take with you your entire life. The people you learn with (fellow karate-ka), and the Sensei you learn from, become your karate family. Always changing, always learning and growing, always supporting each other along the way of personal development.”
“I have been taught how to teach from Sensei Kurobane, and for that I am grateful. I am happy to carry on the traditions of Wado-Kai Karate and Sensei Kurobane through Southern Utah Wado-Kai Karate.”
Ms. Mondry is a registered Sandan black belt and member of the Japan Karatedo Federation (JKF).
